Once you get to know our staff you will see why Great Northern Resort has an unblemished safety record! We have an unsurpassed reputation for safety and river knowledge. Most of our river guides have been with us for years. All guides carry First Aid kits and are First Aid and CPR certified. Most also have Wilderness First Responder, Advanced First Aid, EMT, Swift-Water Rescue, or other specialized certifications. Our employees are the key to our success. We work from a team-building concept which starts on the very first day our staff arrives. Our staff is one big happy family - come to Great Northern Resort and join in the family fun.
Kelly Gallagher has been with GNWW for more than 10 years. Kelly is our Operations Coordinator and oversees our new guide training. On an average day you might see her running around with a radio trying to get trips out, loading a boat, driving a shuttle, mowing the lawn or if your lucky she might be your raft guide...at some point she has done every job at GNWW. She is also a raft guide on the Lochsa River in Idaho in the spring and has rafted rivers from the Selway in Idaho to the Kali Gandaki in Nepal. She has traveled extensively throughout South America, Nepal, Tibet, China and Southeast Asia. While living in Nepal she worked at a health clinic in a small village. In the winter Kelly is a Snowboard Instructor at Big Sky and is studying Political Science-International Relations at MSU in Bozeman, Montana for a career focusing on Human Rights Issues abroad. Kelly is also a Swiftwater Rescue Technician and Wilderness EMT-B.
Michelle Riley is our office manager. She has been with GNWW for three years. She comes from Southern California where she was a middle school teacher. She and her family have vacationed here for years and finally in January of 2006 they made it their home. The motto of the Riley family is "NO BAD DAYS." Montana truly is the last best place and Michelle says if you visit here too often you too will make it your home! According to Michelle, Glacier Park is a must see any time of year...from the Trail of the Cedars to Logan's Pass.

 

 
Kurt Sprenger is a native of Hawaii. His love of music sent him to USC where he earned is doctorate in Music. Kurt is a fishing and rafting guide in the summer and a violinist the rest of the year. He plays the violin for the Dallas Chamber Orchestra and is a studio violinist in the Metroplex. Kurt also serves as a conductor in Italy's National Conservatory. During the summer when he's not on the river he's at a local bar playing the fiddle. You won't want to miss hearing him play "The Devil Goes Down to Georgia."
Brie Nielson comes from Washington and is working on her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at WSU. She has been a river guide with us for four years. Brie has her Wilderness first Aid and helps with new guide training. Her bubbly personality and beautiful smile will win you over immediately. Brie is fun to be around and brings joy wherever she goes.
Neil McCormick one our river guides comes from Cutbank, Montana and is studying psychology and history at Gonzaga University in Washington. As a native to Montana he can tell you all about this great state. He is Wilderness First Aid certified and a wonderful young man to be with on the river.

Kelly Jackson is one of the smiling faces you will see on the river. She is a Montana native and has a BA in Print Journalism and a minor in Art History from the University of Montana in Missoula. The summer after her junior year of college, she worked at a summer camp on Flathead Lake as a Wilderness Counselor. It was during this time that she began rafting - she took campers down the Blackfoot River. Since then, she’s explored the Stillwater, Flathead, and Clark Fork (Alberton Gorge) Rivers of Montana. She is a second year guide and has her Wilderness First Responder. Her contagious smile and laugh will make you like her immediately.

Elliott Smith has been a raft guide for GNWW for several years. He is from Northern California and is pursuing a double major in philosophy and outdoor recreation at Prairie Bible School in Canada. He not only has guided with us but he spent one summer guiding in Alaska. Elliott is also a Wilderness EMT-B and has his Swiftwater Rescue Advanced certification.

Josh Berreth is our resident firefighter (he studied fire science in college) and is a certified EMT. You will see Josh on the river guiding you through the whitewater or on a scenic trip. He comes to us from Mandan, North Dakota but liked it so much here that he made Montana his home. He loves hiking in the park and fishing. In the off season he works for Timber Builders in Corvalis, Montana.

Jordan Stoner grew up in Oklahoma, Alabamba and Montana. Not only is he one of our rafting guides but he is also a kayak instructor. Jordan has been kayaking "since he was born." "I love being on the river, wether it is in a kayak going over a waterfall or in a raft eating steak on a scenic trip."   "Kayaking and rafting always bring out the most intense and adventuresome side in people; its a great way to get to know them." In the off-season Jordan is a college student and is studying entrepreneurship which he hopes will lead him back to the outdoor/adventure industry "that he loves." Jordan is an ACA level IIII Whitewater Kayak Instructor, has his Wilderness First Responder, and is a Swiftwater Rescue Technician.

Kirtlye Lohof grew up in Kalispell, Montana and is a high school history teacher and track coach. She studied abroad in Ecuador and has traveled extensively throughout Central & South America. She helps with new guide training and is one of our staff coordinators. Her love of the outdoors makes her a great river guide and she has been with us for 6 years. Kirtlye enjoys traveling, skiing, history, track, volleyball and her cats: Thelma & Louise. Kirtlye is also a Wilderness First Responder.
Kendra Kallevig is a 3rd year guide. She graduated from UM Missoula in 2008 with a degree in environmental studies and a minor in international development. Kendra enjoys hiking, skiing, rafting (duh) and traveling. She has studied abroad in India and Nicaragua and is very interested in working abroad in the field of sustainable development.

Sherri Urann is a second year guide from Spokane, Washington. She is finishing her degree in Broadcast Studies at Gonzaga University this Spring. Last spring she traveled around the world in 100 days! Sherri likes long walks on the beach and claims to be a master kazoo player. Sherri someday hopes to save the world though film!

Missy Mills comes from Barron ,Wisconsin but has called Montana home for the last couple of years years. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Art from Gustavus Adolphus College. In the off season she works at Allegra Print & Imaging as a typesetter/graphic designer. This will be Missy's second year at GNWW. She is lots of fun to be around - her great personality will put you at ease immediately!

Brad Kreider has been with GNWW for many years. You may see him driving the bus, providing maintenance or guiding you down the river. He has lots of stories and jokes to tell - he can keep you laughing for hours. Plus, if you are looking for a great place to eat or drink - ask Brad.

Michala Berube not only loves being a rafting guide but is a wonderful photographer. She grew up in Bismarck, ND. Michela studied photography at Ridgewater College and has her own photography business. Besides photography she enjoys swimming, hiking, biking, painting and dancing. If you are looking for a great photographer for your special event, call Michela.

Jacob Goodman grew up in New Jersey and studied Mathematics and Economics at Vassar College. From there he went to Dartmouth and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. In the winter Jacob is a professional ski patroller at Park City in Utah and has his EMT-B certification. He has also traveled extensively throughout Europe, Central and South America and he hopes one day to see much of Asia and Africa. When Jacob considers the idea of a "real job" he hopes it will involve hybrid electric race cars. Oh and he also hopes one day for a psychological awakening that could lead to peace on earth....well let him explain that one!

Chris Myers comes from San Diego, California and is in graduate school for business at the University of Montana, Missoula. He too has traveled abroad - he studied in Mexico and traveled throughout South America. Chris has been with GNWW for 5 years. He has his Wilderness First Responder and Swiftwater First Responder certifications.

Greg Burfeind grew up enjoying the beauty of western Montana. He stayed in his hometown for college and earned a BA in sociology at the University of Montana in 2007. He loves spending time in the mountains with friends or strangers, most of whom soon become friends. Greg completed Aerie Backcountry Medicine's Wilderness EMT course to become a certified EMT. In addition to taking folks down the river, he is one of the most cheerful bus drivers you will ever meet. Greg is looking forward to a career in medicine or the academic world of biochemistry.

 

Ryan Crowe comes to us from Caneridge, Tennennee. He loves the mountains and being outdoors. Ryan says he likes to entertain people so if you're lucky you will not only go rafting but be entertained as well.
Joe Gallagher Comes to us from Washington State. This will be Joe's second year at Great Northern Resort.  He left the "real" world to come play in the mountains of Montana. In addition to guiding in the summer, Joe is pursing a teaching degree in the off season.


Amy Ingraham has been with us for years. She is a native to Montana and a great asset to GNWW. Amy is in charge of our housekeeping crew and she also drives the bus for us. You will see her smiling face around the resort making sure that everything is in its place.
Amamda Johnson is one of our office staff.  She comes from North Dakota but made Montana her home a year ago.  This will be her second season with Great Northern Resort.  Not only does Amanda answer the phone and check-in customers but she also has taken many of the Great Northern Resort photos.  You will enjoy her easy manner and great smile.  This  fall she will be going to Seattle to study Computer Science.
